Francesca Haydon MSC, BA (Hons), Dip Coun.
Senior Accredited Member of The British Association for Counsellling and Psychotherapy. MBACP (Snr. Accred) Registration number 15025
I am a senior accredited psychotherapist and supervisor with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have been working as a counsellor and psychotherapist since qualifying in 2000, with experience in both the NHS and private practice.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of supporting many adults through difficult times, including experiences of depression, anxiety, stress, low confidence and self-esteem, trauma, and difficulties in relationships. Often these experiences bring up difficult experiences from our past that might need attention or just to be heard and understood by another human being. I aim to offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can feel listened to, understood and accepted for who you are. I try to help people understand themselves better and be kinder to themselves.
My approach is collaborative and flexible. Rather than expecting you to fit a particular type of therapy, I adapt the way I work to you, your circumstances and the goals you would like to work towards. I offer both short- and longer-term therapy, depending on what feels most helpful for you.
I am trained and accredited in several therapeutic approaches. I am an EMDR practitioner, offering Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), a NICE-recommended treatment for trauma and PTSD. I use this approach to help people with traumas they feel have not been processed fully.
I completed an MSc in Psychological Therapies in 2007, specialising in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, and I am also trained and accredited as a Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT) practitioner with the British Psychoanalytic Council. DIT is a brief form of psychodynamic therapy, used within the NHS. Psychodynamic psychotherapy aims to help people explore patterns in their relationships now and in the past and how their experiences in their relationship affect their emotional wellbeing.
I know that taking the first step towards therapy can feel daunting. You do not need to have everything worked out before you come. We can take things at your pace and begin wherever feels right for you.
I offer a free, no-obligation 20-minute introductory pre-assessment session. This gives us an opportunity to meet, talk about what has brought you to therapy and consider whether I might be the right person to support you.
My hope is that you will feel welcomed, respected and safe to be yourself, whatever you may be going through.
I hold professional indemnity insurance covering all aspects of my practice.
Sama Afsheen UKCP (accredited), Bsc (Hons), Msc
I have a degree in Psychology and a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology (1996), with its basis in systemic family therapy and Cognitive Behavioural therapy. I also have a Masters degree in Gestalt Psychotherapy and I am a UKCP accredited Gestalt Psychotherapist. I am also an EMDR practitioner. I am a member of the British Psychological society and of the Gestalt Psychotherapist Training Institute (GPTI). I am a member of the UK council for Psychotherapists and abide by their code of ethics. I have worked for over 20 years in Primary care mental health. I have considerable experience providing psychotherapy and counselling to individuals with enduring mental health difficulties. As a Gestalt therapist I help people to understand the ways they think, feel and act in different situations, through greater awareness of the moment by moment activity in the therapeutic setting. I attend to body processes and non-verbal communication. I value the relationship between client and therapist as key to healing. I believe strongly in the possibility of transformation and growth through relationship and deeper awareness. Gaining new insights can enable you to arrive at your own informed decisions and create new choices. I will provide a safe and respectful and empathic setting working creatively to support and gently challenge.
